I LOVE BALI

Who doesn’t? Clear blue sea, huge waves, clean sands and the best part of all, the atmosphere. For those who love and appreciate the beach lifestyle, Bali would be one of the best recommendations.

I went to Bali a couple weeks ago. It was my second time and my feelings towards that island still haven’t change a single bit, despite the weather. The only difference was that we involved ourselves in more nightlife atmosphere as that was one of the things we could do without having the rain disrupting and still have a blast. We didn’t do much shopping as well as lying on the beautiful beach for hours as the weather was unfortunately pretty unpredictable. One thing didn’t change, and that is, eating. No doubt we indulged and stuffed ourselves with superb Balinese dishes.

Nusa Dua, Laguna Resort. Really well designed and beautifully surrounded with different kinds of pools. Service, rooms and location are magnificent. It is located right in front of a beautiful beach. You can easily feel free to take a swim in the never ending pool side or dive into the clear blue sea. It is that convenient and worth it.

We arrived in the evening and wanted to start the vacation by being pigs. It was pouring real hard so we stayed in the hotel room and took advantage of the room service. First surprise is on the menu, it stated “Food ordered will arrive within half an hour. No charges upon late arrival”. Okay… We tested out of curiousity, of course. To my heart’s content and growling tummy, the food arrived in less than half an hour.

Second surprise is we decided to order from the kids menu as we weren’t that starving and wanted to have a few kinds of dishes. The obvious reason would be that it was cheaper. Hee. How smart! 🙂 We imagined them to be as typical as singapore’s servings, in little portions. Surprisingly, the portions were like adult’s servings! I am still wondering if they actually did it on purpose or whether it is really a kids’ meal.

Overall, we were very impressed.

Nusa Dua Beach.

This is a must try!

Balinese Mee Goreng & Fried Prawn Rolls.

Chicken Curry, Balinese Style.

Chicken & Beef Kebab. Comes with fries, grilled corn and sweet sauce.

Fried Ice Cream.

Balinese special Banana desert.

This restaurant is located in Nusa Dua. If you stay at certain hotels in Nusa Dua, there is a free shuttle bus to take you to this place. There’s a whole stretch of outdoor restaurants worth trying!

We went to a Reggae bar called Apache in Kuta, and it was ridiculously awesome. They have different bands performing Reggae Music.

It’s a pretty hot spot. It gets really crowded after 11pm.

Met my good friends from Singapore and had the time of our lives dancing the night away.

Oh I looove Bob Marley so much. R.I.P.

From Nusa Dua, we travelled to Ubud. We stayed at two different villas in Ubud. A remarkable place, indeed.

Tegal Sari, Ubud. Definitely suitable for those who adore nature. A huge rice field and monkey forest just opposite. 🙂

It was a nice restaurant and all… The food was delicious. But, a cat entered and hopped on the chair next to me. I freaked out! Yes, as silly as it sounds, I am afraid of  cats! We paid the bill, packed our dinner and left. Good news was that we actually got to use our kitchen! Hee.

We had our massages in our own villa for extremly cheap. Since it was raining, we didn’t get to do many activities, especially the water sports that were planned. But, we sure did make a full use of that villa. 🙂

Where we had our massage.

Our second villa was just as nice. The only unfortunate thing was there were too many lizards on the walls in the toilet area. It was only unexpected because the first villa was perfect. But, this one was more of an open concept. Staying in a place as close to a jungle like that, you shouldn’t be surprised to get little pests. Lesson learnt.

Wayan Cafe. Delicious food, freshest fruit smoothies, perfectly bucolic ambience, and beautifully Balinese gardens.

Met Gia and her boyfriend for the first time and I fell in love with her! She is just so hilarious. Oh, and of course, you can never get enough of Apache.

To my amazement, the next morning we woke up and witnessed the sun rise. It was completely shocking because we were stuck in rain and the sun finally came out on our last day?! That’s not okay. So… We decided to.. extend for another night! It was oh-so worth it.

We did something similar in our first trip to Bali in 2009. But this was a little more special than before. We manage to watch their traditional dance and we even had a whole acoustic band of 5 guys singing for us. I requested for Corazon Espinado by Santana. Man, they nailed it. Everything was just perfect; the weather, the scenery, sounds of waves, your favorite song being played live while you’re sipping on a fabulous wine and most importantly, witnessing all of those with the man you love. Jimbaran Bay, I miss you….

Our last day couldn’t be any better… We ended the night with more partying at Sky Garden.

I almost forgot… They do 24 hour Mcdonalds delivery in Bali too!

Bali never fails to give us the excitement and the feeling of indulgence be it sunny or rainy.

Vacation used to be a luxury, but in today’s world it has become a necessity.
